Op de eerste zondag van de zomervakantie in deze regio is de kerkdienst traditioneel in Openluchttheater de Kösterskoele. De dienst stond in het teken van het verhaal van de vijf broden en twee vissen.
Helaas werden we verrast door enkele buien maar na afloop van de dienst in de openlucht was er koffie en … arretjescake. De Kerkenraad van de Martinuskerk Markelo wenst u een fijne vakantie.
Diederik Roeterdink vertelt graag en enthousiast over de verbouwplannen van de kerk. Alles wat er met de kerk gebeurt, gebeurt met het grootste respect voor het verleden en de oorspronkelijke bedoeling van het gebouw. Zo is bij de restauratie van het prachtige Haupt-orgel in 2008 in de panelen en de kleurstelling de situatie van vóór 1932 teruggebracht.

Op 14 juli 2024 heeft een groepje enthousiaste wandelaars de “Bankjesroute” in Markelo gelopen. De drie kilometerlange wandeling leidde de wandelaars langs de verschillende en diverse bankjes die in het centrum van Markelo te vinden zijn. Het weer was prachtig, de route eveneens.
Onderweg was er tijd voor een goed gesprek, voor een leuke puzzel en voor een versnapering. Na afloop van de wandeling stond er koffie en thee met wat lekkers klaar in de Martinushof.
Op 18 juni 2024 is er door de kerkenraad een gemeenteavond georganiseerd geheel in het teken van de verbouwing van de Martinuskerk. De aanwezige gemeenteleden zijn door diverse sprekers bijgepraat over de plannen, de planning en de financiering. De Kerkenraad heeft als visie dat het toekomstbestendig en multifunctioneel maken van de kerk een investering is in de gemeente en in de toekomst van de Martinuskerk.
Een verbouwing is noodzakelijk om in de huidige tijd te overleven. De Martinuskerk is geen stilstaand monument maar een gebouw waar het ontmoeten centraal staat en de eredienst gevierd wordt. De inspiratie voor de plannen komt van Kerkenvisie PKN Nederland. Naast de eredienst is de Martinuskerk ook geschikt voor tal van andere activiteiten. De drempel van de Martinuskerk is laag, iedereen is welkom. Noaberschap en samen optrekken met ondernemers zijn hierbij altijd het uitgangspunt.
